Mr.Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

(Mahatma Gandhi)

(1869-1948)

Father of Nation

Mahatma Gandhi started the Khadi movement to empower weavers, viewed handloom weaving as the cornerstone of rural self-reliance and economic independence. By promoting Khadi (handspun and handwoven cloth), he sought to revitalize rural artisans, boycott foreign-made goods, and empower local communities across India.

Mr.K. Kamaraj

(1903-1975)

Former Member of the Lok Sabha

He was affectionately hailed by the people as the 'Father of Education' and 'Kingmaker'.

Kamarajar carried this legacy forward by ensuring the handloom industry survived during the industrialization of Tamil Nadu.

Mr.Tiruppur Kumaran

(1904-1932)

Indian revolutionary

Tirupur Kumaran was a freedom fighter from a weaving family who led protests against the British.Respected brothers, sisters, and fellow weavers of Tamil Nadu,Today, as we sit at our handlooms, let us remember the brave son of a weaver who gave everything for our motherland—our own Kodi Kaatha Kumaran.
